It’s becoming common to video your journey to help support insurance claims and the like, especially in Russia where a scam is increasingly rife. This £1.49 app means you don’t have to buy a dash cam; just mount your iOS device on your windscreen and press record. Video is recorded continuously in a loop, overwriting old footage until you stop the recording to save a clip, in HD – though you can choose to drop the capture resolution, too. It can overlay optional data such as coordinates, speed and heading, too.

You can manually delete clips, or export them to your Camera Roll from where you can share them further.

We were disappointed that video doesn’t keep recording in the background – though at least, say, Apple Maps can overlay directions, Notification Center-style, when in other apps such as Car Camera DVR – and it’s annoying that it only works in landscape, but it’s polished and was stable in our testing.
