“A touch unbalanced difficulty-wise, but still a beautiful, engaging and accessible undersea adventure.”

Squids

SquidsSquids merges the Angry Birds firing mechanism with top-down billiards-like physics, then welds the result to a cute, if short, role-playing adventure. Each level is a chapter in a tale of undersea conquest that involves you propelling squids along pre-set paths to exits and beating up foes along the way. There’s a point about halfway through when you’ll want to turn the tentacled heroes into calamari. Overpowered enemies seem to betray the developer’s desire to have you level up via IAP, rather than solely using the currency (pearls) you collect. It’s worth persevering, though, because subsequent levels are some of the game’s best. For example, a grizzled veteran squid blasting his way to freedom, and your fighters spending well-earned downtime playfully trying to knock each other off a giant turtle speeding through the depths.
