Another World - 20th Anniversary

Physicist Lester Knight's atom-smashing experiments come built-in with undesirable outcome; dumped in a dangerous alien world filled with moody inhabitants (with guns), it's your job to get him back home. We've seen a handful of Amiga ports on iOS, some of which, inevitably, have shown their age. And yet the developers of this retro platformer have seen fit to not only release another but actually play up the intervening years. Frankly, it works – thanks largely to the game's cinematic style transferring well to the small screen, but more crucially to its finely honed pad/touch control system. True to the original, puzzle-solving and survival rely on brutal hair's-breadth accuracy and timing, enjoyment of which hangs on your nostalgia quotient. Vintage gamers will lap up the cryptic cut scenes and tricky puzzles, but newcomers… consider yourself warned.
