“Snake! SNAAAAAAKE! Oooh it’s a snake! Ah, no, it isn’t – it’s a flawed but loveable bit of rhythmic lunacy.”

Russian Dancing Men

Russian Dancing MenYou’ve all seen the badgers, right? No? Okay, go and watch tapm.ag/tapbadgers on something that runs Flash (so, not an iOS device) until your brains start dribbling out of your ears. 10 minutes should do it. Then search the site for Kenya, and watch that. Then Magical Trevor. Congratulations – you’ve seen the best bits of Russian Dancing Men! It’s a rhythm action game, essentially. The titular Cossacks dance through landscapes inspired by the works of Weebl, and you press buttons to make them dance over obstacles. It’s simple and straightforward and the action triggers don’t seem to happen quite in time to the music, adding a special extra layer of unwanted difficulty. Plus it’s easy to lose track of the buttons in the heat of the action, which can ruin your entire game within the space of a few seconds as all your terpsichorean comrades fall. It’s almost great – it just needs an extra spit and polish before we can wholeheartedly recommend it.
