The premise of Jets is to find the best seats on more than 100,000 flights worldwide. Type in your flight number and Jets shows you up-to-date flight information, including airlines and aircraft, nearest departure dates together with seat layouts. It’s a visual treat and ideally suited to the iPhone’s portrait orientation, allowing you to scroll up and down the length of the aircraft.
The Tap! budget didn’t stretch as far as Flight BA2154 to Barbados, but seat mapping data appeared accurate, if you know a little bit about the plane in the first place! The app occasionally asks you to determine which plane it is and to select a layout if two configurations are offered by the airline. Seat information is also quite contrived with comments such as “Restricted recline. Backaches possible.” If you know your way around the likes of an A320 or 757, this app may prove a useful travel companion, but it’s not for every flier.
