Sky Gamblers: Rise Of Glory

Sky Gamblers: Rise Of GloryThe infuriating thing about Sky Gamblers – Rise of Glory is that just as you’re swearing blind that the controls are completely impossible and that there’s no way on earth that you’ll ever be comfortable with them, you find that the controls have clicked and you’re mostly enjoying yourself.

The main blot on this otherwise accomplished WW1 dogfighter’s landscape is the idiotic way in which you’re expected to activate special manoeuvres by swiping from the centre of the screen while you’re using both hands to wave your device around in the air, control your throttle and your rudder and fire your weapons. What are you supposed to do on an iPad, use your nose? We’ve given up even trying.

Thankfully you can still get around more than adequately without it, and enjoy a stack of reasonably varied missions as well as more straightforward dogfighting challenges, plenty of online multiplayer and, crucially, lots of vintage fighters without a hint of In-App Purchase.
