“This app is a lot of fun to use, and once you've learned to stay still, the effect works quite well.”

VideoMask

VideoMaskThe idea behind Video Mask is to record a short clip with you being someone else. The default setup contains a handful of masks — basic overlays, such as a fireman's helmet, a rabbit or a hockey mask. You place your eyes and mouth so you can see them through the slots, tap on the record button and try to be still as possible — the mask is fixed and two dimensional, so you have to face the camera straight on for the effect to work.

If this was all the app offered, it wouldn't be that exciting. But what makes it a lot of fun is the ability to take a photograph, modify it by cutting out a person's eyes and mouth, and pretend to be anyone you want. The app even colour corrects the output, so when you watch it again your skin tone matches the face you're behind for an even more realistic effect.
